چکیده

Generalized Hoare logic (GHL) is a formal logical system for proving invariance properties of programs. It was first introduced by Lamport to reason about simple concurrent programs with shared variables. It was generalized by Lamport and Schneider who noticed that the inference rules for each language construct (enabling invariance properties of statements to be derived from invariance properties of their components) can be viewed as special cases of simple logical meta-rules. We give a rigorous definition of GHL, based upon an abstract formalization of the syntax and semantics of programs so as to provide an interpretation for formulas of GHL which is independent of the specilic instructions of the programming language used. We prove that the proof system of GHL is sound and relatively complete under hypotheses, which we formulate independently of any programming language; these are simple conditions which relate the axiom schemata for atomic actions and the axiom schemata, which dehne the control flow semantics, to the semantics of programs. %I 1989 Academic Press, Inc.

Hoare logic and VDM : machine-checked soundness and completeness proofs

Investigating soundness and completeness of verification calculi for imperative programming languages is a challenging task. Many incorrect results have been published in the past. We take advantage of the computer-aided proof tool LEGO to interactively establish soundness and completeness of both Hoare Logic and the operation decomposition rules of the Vienna Development Method (VDM) with resp...

From Hoare Logic to Matching Logic

Matching logic has been recently proposed as an alternative program verification approach. Unlike Hoare logic, where one defines a language-specific proof system that needs to be proved sound for each language separately, matching logic provides a language-independent and sound proof system that directly uses the trusted operational semantics of the language as axioms. Matching logic thus has a...

Towards Mechanized Program Verification with Separation Logic

Using separation logic, this paper presents three Hoare logics (corresponding to different notions of correctness) for the simple While language extended with commands for heap access and modification. Properties of separating conjunction and separating implication are mechanically verified and used to prove soundness and relative completeness of all three Hoare logics. The whole development, i...

A Sequential Imperative Programming Language Syntax, Semantics, Hoare Logics and Verification Environment

We present the theory of Simpl, a sequential imperative programming language. We introduce its syntax, its semantics (big and smallstep operational semantics) and Hoare logics for both partial as well as total correctness. We prove soundness and completeness of the Hoare logic. We integrate and automate the Hoare logic in Isabelle/HOL to obtain a practically usable verification environment for ...
